A new four-cylinder engine on the Toyota Highlander 2.7 has been introducted by the Japanese brand. Powered by a 2.7 liter engine, Toyota Highlander 2.7 may develops 187 hp at 5,800 RPM and 186 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,100 RPM on regular 87 octane fuel.

Toyota Highlander 2.7 is equipped with a dual exhaust manifold that will help it get very good low-end torque and maximize its power output. The Toyota Highlander 2.7 engine will be coupled with a six-speed electronically-controlled automatic overdrive transmission with intelligence (ECT-i).

Toyota Highlander 2.7 will have a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. However, no announcement yet for the Toyota Highlander 2.7 price.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., announced today that the 2009 Highlander mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) will offer an all-new, powerful yet fuel-efficient 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. When it arrives at dealerships in mid-to-late January, the new Highlander powerplant will be among the best mid-size SUVs in the areas of performance, fuel economy and value.

The new 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine will generate an impressive 187 horsepower at 5,800 RPM and 186 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,100 RPM on regular 87 octane fuel. A dual exhaust manifold will help achieve exceptional low-end torque and maximize its power output. In addition to its performance output, the Highlander equipped with the new four-cylinder will be EPA-rated as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEVII) and is expected to be among the leaders in fuel efficiency in the gas mid-size SUV segment. Official EPA fuel efficiency ratings will be announced closer to launch.

The new four-cylinder engine will be mated to an all-new six-speed electronically-controlled automatic overdrive transmission with intelligence (ECT-i). The new transmission will help deliver quiet and smooth performance on par with a V6 and acceleration that is surprisingly quick for a four-cylinder. When equipped with a tow package, the new powerplant will achieve a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

The new engine will come standard on the Highlander grade two-wheel-drive model equipped with two rows of seats, contributing to its excellent value. A third row seat package will also be available for families requiring additional seating capacity. Other key optional equipment will include an eight-way power driver’s seat, manual rear air conditioning, and an AM/FM/six-disc CD Changer with satellite radio capability, MP3/WMA capability and six speakers.

With the new four-cylinder engine, Highlander will be the only mid-size SUV in the current market to offer three powerplant choices. The 3.5-liter Highlander V6, available in two- and full-time four-wheel drive, is among the leaders in fuel efficiency among V6 gas engines in its segment. The full-time 4WD-i Highlander Hybrid, equipped with a V6 powerplant with front and
rear electric motors, stands above all others for fuel efficiency among all mid-size SUVs.

Jaguar XKR-S car is a lightweight version of the XKR that presented by Jaguar at the Geneva Motor Show. Powered by a 4.2-litre all aluminium four-cam supercharged V8 engine, the Jaguar XKR-S delivers 420 bhp and 560 Nm of torque.

The Jaguar XKR-S’ top speed is electronically limited to 174 mph (280 km/h) and the 100 km/h mark comes in just 5.2 seconds. With these performance figures, I think it will makes the Jaguar XKR-S even faster than the XJ220 supercar.

However, with only 200 cars going on the European market, the Jaguar XKR-S will become available this summer.

The high performance braking system for the XKR-S was developed by Jaguar’s Special Vehicles team in partnership with British competition brake specialist Alcon, which supplies the stopping power for some of the fastest cars in the world, on both road and track. The brakes were perfected over thousands of miles of testing on some of Europe’s most demanding roads, and by Jaguar’s engineering team at the Nurburgring in Germany. The XKR-S Alcon R Performance braking system features 400mm diameter discs on the front and 350mm discs at the rear. Each disc is radially ventilated for maximum cooling and to resist fade even under the hardest use, and will perfectly match the XKR-S’s increased top speed. The friction surfaces of each disc carry a series of crescent-shaped grooves that help clear water from the discs during wet weather and help to keep the brake pads clean at all times. The Alcon R performance brake package uses lightweight monobloc six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston callipers at the rear – each calliper finished in a distinctive red and carrying the R logo.

The XKR-S coupe’s dynamic balance focuses on achieving an even more sporting character while retaining the XKR’s supple ride comfort. Its blend of control and refinement begins with the extremely stiff all-aluminium body structure, and a re-tuning of the XKR’s all-wishbone suspension. The XKR-S features new springs, new anti-roll bars and unique dampers. All the major suspension parameters are recalibrated, and the XKR-S uses Jaguar’s proven Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) with unique tuning. It also uses a faster ratio steering rack, for quicker reactions and optimum feel.

The limited edition coupé in Ultimate Black is identified by the unique XKR-S badge on the rear of the car. The exterior of the XKR-S has been subtly enhanced to make it recognizably different without being overstated. Another significant element in the revised handling package is that the ride height of the XKR-S has been reduced by 10mm compared with that of the XKR, and the XKR-S sits on unique, lightweight 20-inch Vortex forged alloy wheels with bespoke tyres. That naturally makes the XKR-S look lower and even more sporting, but it has a number of other distinguishing details. It features a new front aerodynamic splitter, side sill extensions, revised rear spoiler and rear diffuser panel, with contrasting finishes to details such as the front mesh grille, power vents, sills and rear diffuser panel.

The XKR-S has an Active Exhaust System, which is specifically tuned to ensure quiet, refined high-speed cruising while producing a much more hard-edged and sporting V8 sound under hard acceleration – not over loud, but full of performance character.

While the mechanical specification and the exterior revisions are driven largely by performance and dynamic enhancement, the interior changes reflect Jaguar’s vision of the XKR-S as an uncompromisingly luxurious sports car.

The Brabus Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster will debut in Germany at the 2007 Essen Motor Show. The Brabus Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster is powered by a supercharged 5.5-liter engine that has received special camshafts, a fuel cooling system and a high-performance exhaust. The Brabus Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster has a 650 hp (641 hp SAE net) / 478 kW power output at 6,500 rpm. The Brabus Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster has a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 337 km/h (209 mph).

To give the two-seater even more striking looks while at the same time minimizing lift on the front axle, the BRABUS designers have developed a front spoiler that attaches to the production bumper. The spoiler is made from exposed carbon fiber and its shape was finetuned in the wind tunnel. It is especially lightweight and extremely tough. A corresponding BRABUS rear diffuser made from exposed carbon fiber can replace its production counterpart.

The power tuning for the supercharged 5.5-liter (335.5 cu. in.) engine consists of special camshafts, a fuel cooling system and a high-performance exhaust. BRABUS also offers a special clutch-type limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent. It further optimizes traction and improves acceleration performance of the super sports car. The tuned roadster sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 337 km/h (209 mph).

The company-own upholstery shop specializes in fulfilling just about any request from discriminating SLR owners when it comes to customizing the interior. That includes a multitude of leather types and colors as well as custom upholstery designs.

Trident Performance Vehicles have designed and produced a two-seater sports car that can reach over 200mph, get from 0-60mph in under 4 seconds and deliver up to 100mpg*.

Whilst city cars (MEGA City, Ze-O, G-Wiz) work brilliantly for people who live and work in a city, Trident represent those that travel on the M1, the M4, the M6 to get to work, people who live in rural locations and those situations where electric cars are not (for the time being) viable due to their comparatively short range. In the meantime, the Trident Iceni offers current technology that is available now which reduces fuel consumption and therefore reduces emissions.

It’s a diesel sports car and if you’re able to obtain any kind of biodiesel, this can be used without any invalidation of warranty, adjustment to the engine or affect on performance.

Their fantastic fuel economy is achieved through technology called torque multiplication and it can be applied to all diesel cars (the popularity of which is growing year on year versus petrol cars), buses, lorries and trains. It’s available now, requires no further research and development and can make an immediate difference to the amount of emissions diesel vehicles produce. In short, Trident have the solution to what we’re told is a huge problem.

So serious is the concern about carbon reduction, the Government affiliates itself with a number of organisations that exist to provide grants to people and/or companies that can contribute to or offer a solution.

Carbon Trust, EEDA (East of England Development Agency), Carbon Connections, HGCA (Home Grown Cereals Association), EEMS (Energy Efficiency in Motor Sport), Energy Savings Trust, Renewables East to name a few. Trident have applied to all the above mentioned agencies for grants and have received nothing – not a penny. Not only have they received no money but have struggled to get reasons for why they have failed and have been unable to find out who has received grants.

The team at Trident have invested £2.3m in the project which has enabled the completion of all the development needed to get the Iceni into production. They’re now seeking funds to make this happen and satisfy their growing bank of customers.

*68.9mph at a constant 70mph was the first recorded test at Millbrook Proving Ground. The figure naturally improve at lower speeds – at 30mph, Trident’s initial tests returned 108mpg. This is yet to be confirmed but they don’t believe in quoting a figure for 30mph as this is unrealistic – unless you drive exclusively in a city.

The Iceni is a traditional grand tourer. With a full tank of diesel, you can expect to travel around 2000 miles without needing to fill up.

The boot has space for luggage and golf clubs – enough for a two week holiday.

The chassis is made from stainless steel and is guaranteed against corrosion for 100 years and the body is made from composite and can therefore never rust or degrade.

Audi O concept car (2008) was designed by a design student from the Czech Republic called Ondrej Jirec, who is beginning studies at the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California in 2008.

We have seen Toyota collaborating with several auto makers before � just like the collaboration with Isuzu Motors to build small engines and release them in 2009. Toyota is still looking for more collaborations to push through with its planned building of more than 10 million vehicles in the next few years.

And now Toyota is doing another exciting collaboration with a famous gadget maker. You know which company I am referring to right? It�s Sony. The future partnership of Toyota and Sony will bring out a new vehicle in the market. And it�s not just any other vehicle but a single ride car. Exciting? You bet.

In 2005, Toyota revealed a concept version of the i-swing, an armchair wheels. But Toyota seems determined to turn the concept into reality � enlisting the partnership with Sony to pursue the production of the single-ride vehicle. Toyota sees Sony engineers as the most capable of doing this new type of vehicle.

Sony is renowned makers of major patent robotics and Toyota is (as everybody already know) makes the best selling vehicle models at present. Now seven engineers of Sony are working with Toyota to build the next generation project. No such thing as a Saab radiator fan on this ride, but the collaboration between the two huge Japanese companies will assure you that the car parts are made up of the best materials out there.

Toyota has developed the TPR-Robina, the newest robot on its company. The new robot is used to guide the visitors of the company around the head quarters. The new robot also has the ability to converse with the visitors and also performs several skills. However, Sony is now focusing on developing more updated technology on its electronics other than venturing to robotics.

The Veritas RS III is a super-sports car from Germany-based Vermot AG. Veritas was founded in 1948 and went on to successfully compete in German Championship races. In 1951 Veritas became the first German team to compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Unfortunately, due to financial problems Veritas closed its doors in 1952. In 2001 the Veritas name was resurrected on the RS3 concept which first appeared as a BMW V12 powered car.

The Veritas RS III concept of 2008 is different from the 2001 car several areas. Firstly the new car has a choice of engine, either a 480 horsepower, 5.0 litre, BMW V8 mated to a manual transmission. Or a 600 horsepower BMW V10 with sequential transmission.

The V8 unit gives the Veritas RS III a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, the V10 model takes only 3.2 seconds to hit 60 mph. Top speeds are 204 mph and 215 mph respectively. All the power and performance is put down onto the road without the electronic driver aids found on most modern supercars - making the Veritas RS III a car dedicated to experienced driving enthusiasts.

Spyker has released the details of the Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 - their latest limited edition model. Based on the GT2 LeMans car, the Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine that delivers 400 hp and is coupled with a synchromesh six-speed transmission and a Drexler limited slip differential.

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 has a full aluminum body and space frame and features a fully independent, adjustable suspension and AP Racing 6 piston brake calipers.

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 will be built in only 24 units, and the price for this Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 has not been announced yet. But it will be displayed for the first time at the opening of Spyker of Saudi Arabia.

Yutaka Igarashi, whose 3D design skills are well above the norm, has created a gorgeous design for a turbo V-Twin motorcycle. There’s very little not to like. A few details are missing, such as gear shift and rear brake levers, but the design overall is quite impressive. A quick browse around his site reveals some other remarkable ideas, like his single seat helicopter, which look very cool. Definitely worth checking out.

The 450cc Super Singles class will be racing at Mid Ohio, September 19-21. The new class is made up of road racing bikes that started life as 450cc MX bikes which are then transformed into lightweight, single cylinder racers.

We’ve written about this new class before and it looks like it’s about to hit the track. This could be interesting.

AMA Sports, the amateur racing arm of the AMA, is proud to welcome Gavin Trippe and his 450cc super singles to the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships, set for September 19-21 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The 450cc super singles showcase an exciting new breed of road-racers that are powered by 450cc four-stroke engines sourced from top-line motocross bikes and streamlined with custom fairings.

Trippe, a driving force behind the new race bikes, will be on hand as part of the event. A member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, Trippe is regarded as the founder of the Superbikers event in the 1970s, which pitted racers from numerous motorcycle racing disciplines against each other on tracks that included elements of motocross, road racing and dirt track.

“We are excited to have Gavin Trippe and his amazing super singles race bikes at the AMA Sports Road Race Grand Championships,” said Anthony Grilli, National Technical Manager for AMA Sports. “With the core of modern motocross machinery and wrapped in MotoGP-inspired composites, these bikes are a thrill to watch as they battle for track supremacy.”

“When I hatched the idea for the super singles, it was at Mid-Ohio in 2006,” Trippe said. “I was watching some supermoto bikes going around and I thought to myself, ‘Those things are flying!’ That’s where it all started. Now, to be going back to Mid-Ohio with the next generation of these bikes, at an event such as the Road Race Grand Championships, it’s exciting.”

Crocker Motorcycles now taking ordersThe Crocker Motorcycle Company is now accepting orders for 100 brand new Crocker motorcycles. The price will be about $65,000 and delivery, due to the hand built nature of the process, will be 6 to 8 months after the order is placed.

The new bikes will be identical to the originals in appearance and most parts, except for the new engine and electrical system, will be interchangeable with the originals. The new Crocker Motorcycles will be built in Los Angeles, California, again, just like the originals.
